From
the 1960's to 1980's, portraits by the celebrated New York
pop art artist Andy Warhol were de rigeur for the rich and famous. Anybody
who was anybody wanted one, and owning an original was an undisputed
mark of fashionable, social and career achievement, indeed, only
the very wealthy could afford one.
The commissioning price could
reach $40,000.
The Technique was colouring-in silk-screened and monstrously enlarged photographs with deliberately clumsy blocks of psychedelic and pastel colour on canvas.
There Will Never be any more like that because the artist died. But in 1993 we started making new portraits in the same style so that new generations could still own something like the real thing, but at an affordable price, because instead of using expensive time-consuming silkscreen printing methods, computers now allow us to create giant pictures using modern, economical digital techniques combined with today's printing technology.
Made By Hand - There are many cheaper (and some more expensive!) imitators around, but ours remain arguably superior, because although the modern printing process now makes these fine items more affordable, we still first digitally create each commission by hand, working on your picture for several hours or even days, not minutes. Moreover, we have physically studied the original master's work in detail, and thus we infuse an unmatched authenticity and reverent spirit of homage to our work. Our standard product is fine-art giclee-printed to emulate the appearance of a real silkscreen print, and then stretched and mounted onto a wooden gallery-quality hanging frame. We make them from small sizes up to massive movie poster size, and can also print them on affordable photo poster paper.
