This is just one sample of our personalised movie posters. There’s many more to see on other pages of our site. If you want to be famous, what better way of becoming a star overnight, cast in the leading role in your favourite all time blockbuster feature film! They’re a great Christmas holiday gift idea for relatives and loved ones. No need to pick from only the ones featured here – You can choose any movie you know of. Just send us a photo of you or the gift recipient, name the film, and we’ll do the rest.

We had so much fun doing this one, that it hardly seemed fair to the rest of humanity! A fun-packed movie with highly inspirational original artwork, and a name which humorously lent itself very well to the subject matter. But it was hard work. Yes, we have trade secrets, nevertheless, this one is a good example to show you some of the many processes and the deep and perfectionist attention to detail which typically go into the making of our personalised movie posters.

Just putting a hat and whip on the girl might have been enough to satisfy some people, but we wanted to go further and do this thing properly. So we needed a complete female body, but one which would look hand-drawn like Harrison Ford is, and also wearing suitable 'raiding' clothes. Fortunately, such a female does exist, and her name is Lara Croft.

But Lara doesn't use a whip, so we needed to find yet another gal with a whip and some attitude. CatWoman fit the requirements nicely...

...so it then remained for us to fuse the four people together, Indy, Lara, Halle Berry, and last but not least, our subject, the little girl whose birthday this poster celebrates:

We cut the sleeves off Indy's shirt and tailored it to fit the female form, literally 'dressing' the body, but digitally. Note how even Indy's leather shoulder strap has been reshaped to track correctly across the body curves:

...then the whole girl was textured to match the hand-sketched graphic style of the orignal Harrison Ford image, which itself references the crayon and ink illustration technique of the old 1940's adventure comic strips on which Indiana Jones is based. In fact, many old movie posters prior to the 1980’s tended to use hand-painted or drawn pictures of the actors instead of photographs. In these cases, when we put your face in, we strive to match the hand-painted style of the original faces. And of course, some movie ‘stars’ are actually animated cartoon characters, so we therefore recreate you too as a cartoon character.

We needed to rebuild the carved stone pattern that was covered up by the original letter 'R' of 'Raiders':

See in the picture below how what was covered up by Harrison Ford is now exposed by our new girl's slightly different position. We could have just left it blank, or blurred it, or left a gap or something, but that wouldn't have been quality. So instead,we extended the left-hand cherubim's wing and carved golden detailing on the lid of the Ark. Parts of the circular motif behind Indy and the plaited leather of the whip also had to be rebuilt piece by piece because the whip was in a different position. That's the kind of extra work that puts the value into our creations, and it's why they are worth every cent of the price.

Finally, we go over the whole poster, matching all the separate elements to the original print textures and colour gamut, and restoring overall picture quality and clarity to make a punchy, eye-socking movie poster that looks bright, sharp, colorful and good as new, but most importantly, without sacrificing its original vintage look. You’ll know of course that it’s you or a loved one in the poster, but our work is so good and thoroughly executed that future generations will never know the difference. In forty years time, you’ll be hearing “Grandpa, I didn’t know you were in the movies!”

We spend time searching for the best available examples of the original movie poster that’s required. They’re not always easy to find, and often we have to spend time restoring the quality of the original poster before it’s even fit to start personalising it. Sometimes we can't find a suitable original poster at all, so we have to research the movie’s history and credits and then construct our own new poster from scratch, with material from many different sources, before we can begin personalising it.

Then there’s the lettering: We don’t just type it in. We generally rebuild the main title, actors names, and much of the credits lettering to incorporate the new name you want on the poster, (note that for client's privacy, the names have been smudged out in the examples on this page).

And we don't just use any old lettering – We search for and then match the exact fonts used on the original poster as closely as possible, and/or match the font and design style to the cultural period of the movie. Sometimes there is no matching font, so we cut up and rebuild the existing original lettering by hand and rebuild it to form the new letters required. But we don’t stop there: New fonts just dropped onto an old poster stick out a mile, so we actually distress (age) the new lettering to match the apparent age of the rest of the poster so that it seamlessly blends in.

These posters aren't jokes, and they aren't disposable: They are investments, serious works of art fit to be framed and treasured as family heirlooms, and we never consider one of our movie posters to be finished unless it would be good enough to hang outside a cinema or be published in a magazine or newspaper to advertise an actual real movie.

The prestigious price of these posters reflects the hard work and deep perfectionist attention to detail which typically go into their making. These puppies can take days to make, not just minutes. Notice how we've moved the snakes's head further into the picture to fill the larger gap, to balance the composition:

We extended the carved stone frame
across the bottom of the picture to neaten the alteration we had to make to the picture's borders, as if it had been like that from the beginning:

As you can see then, we don’t just stick a new photo of your face into the old poster. As these examples show, we carefully blend it to match, reshaping and rebuilding clothing detail and hairstyles as necessary, adjusting light and shadow to match, and we also enhance skin, teeth and eyes to give you that same movie star sparkle that the rest of the original actors on the poster have. We also carefully match the texture and color of the print tone and film grain of the original poster to help more seamlessly blend the new face into the old poster.
